Women's Ministry of Forks of Elkhorn Baptist Church

Committee Mission Statement

To equip, encourage, and educate women to grow in their walk with Christ by providing opportunities for service, fellowship, and evangelism.

Come be a part of the Women's Ministry. We meet on the third Thursday
of each month at 6 PM in the fellowship hall.

Flowers for the Sanctuary - A new part of the Women's Ministry at Forks - You can provide flowers for the church as a memory or honor of someone. Sign up at the Welcome Center.

May 15 -- Regular meeting with Kenny Rogers, a self-defense instructor. He will teach us how to protect ourselves. Please sign up at Welcome Center so we can have enough food for all. We are having a potluck dinner and ask you to bring a casserole, vegetable, salad or dessert.

June Project -- We are collecting underwear and socks for needy school children in Franklin and Woodford counties. Please put your donations in the dark gray containers in the foyer and fellowship hall.

Operation Christmas Child -- Starting early this year!! See a list of items need below or pick up a list of suggested items at the Welcome Center. Items are listed for each month. Put your donations in the collection container in the fellowship hall and foyer.

  • March -- Girls toys/items(dolls, jacks, small games, T-shirts, make-up, Bible storybooks, solar calculators, stuffed animals, stickers)
  • April -- Boy toys/items (yo-yo's, marbles, baseballs, ball caps, T-shirts, Bible storybooks, solar calculators, flashlights, batteries, cars, trucks)
  • May -- Girl toys/items (socks, underwear)
  • June -- Boy toys/items (socks, underwear)
  • July -- School supplies (pencils, pencil sharpeners, pens, writing tablets, crayons, colored pencils, markers)
  • August -- Combs, hairbrushes, hair stuff for girls (bows, barrettes, decorative ponytail holders, etc.)
  • September -- Gum, hard candy
  • October -- Fill in month for anything needed
  • November -- Prepare box and wrap for distribution center.

Backpack Snacks Program -- This program provides school children with healthy food, meals, and snacks that they can open and eat with little or no preparation. The target groups are those that are having difficulty providing for their families and/or the children have parents who work on the weekends or odd hours, requiring the children to prepare their own meals. See the types of snacks you may provide below or pick up a Backpack Snacks Program sheet at the Welcome Center for a complete list. Put your donations in the dark gray containers in the foyer and fellowship hall.

  • Breakfast bars
  • Chips
  • Dry cereals
  • Fruit cups (Apple sauce, peaches, mixed fruit, etc.)
  • Fruit rollups (not fruit snacks)
  • Individual bowls of soup, chili, ravioli, spaghetti, etc. (preferably small, microwavable containers)
  • Individual microwavable mac n'cheese packets
  • Individual packs of cereal
  • Instant oatmeal
  • Juice boxes
  • Microwavable (not stovetop) ramen noodles
  • Pasta meals with pop top lids
  • Peanut butter or cheese and cracker snacks
  • Pop tarts
  • Pudding packs
  • Raisins in small boxes
  • Snack crackers
  • Soups/meals with pop lids
  • Other items (nonperishable)

Birthday Cakes for Patients under Hospice Care -- We are baking cakes for individuals on their birthdays who are under Hospice Care. Disposable pans and the type of cake requested is provided by Hospice. If you would like to help with this very worthwhile and rewarding program, contact Judy Smith.

October 24 - 26 -- Ladies Retreat in Grand Rivers, KY. Allison Durham Speer will lead worship on Friday afternoon. Lisa Harper will lead Bible Study on Saturday. Cost is $200/person.
