Deacon Ministry Team Program

With much prayer and consideration after our deacon retreat, we have prepared a basic introduction to the Deacon Ministry Team Concept. Because it's impossible to minister effectively to everyone through our Deacon Family Ministry, we hope and pray that the "team approach" will be more effected and successful.

The purpose of the team approach is threefold:

  1. Deacons captain or co-captain teams of ministry in their area of interest or giftedness. This relieves the deacons from trying to minister effectively to 20 or 30 families.
  2. Our second purpose is to enlist lay persons within our church to help us minister. Church members may sign up in areas where they feel gifted or interested. The team approach involves many more people in ministry, which is our goal.
  3. Our third purpose is to minister the love of Christ to those who are in need. This involves church members and prospects.

This team concept take time to develop and grow. Just as in any young team, there will be some mistakes, changes, and substitutions that we will make along the way. It is our desire to keep our teams together and keep our eyes on our Coach, Jesus Christ, then many more victories are ahead for our church. Below you find some initial starting points in our Team Ministry. There will be many teams added as our church continues to grow. Here are a few to get us started.

Evangelism/Discipleship-This team ministers to the lost through prayer and evangelistic efforts. The team also ministers through mentoring, discipling and acting as accountability partners.

Families-This team ministers to and counsels families in crisis. Examples may include: divorce, separation, rebellious children, parental problems and financial problems.

Grief-This team ministers to people who have suffered the loss of a loved one. Through visits, calls, cards or contacts, this tem ministers over an extended period of time.

Hospitality-This team is responsible for food preparation for families in sickness, loss of a loved one or even births. This also includes greeting and entertaining new members in your home or at a restaurant.

Senior Adults-This team ministers to Senior Adult needs. This may include transportation to church or grocery, repairs around the house or car maintenance.

Singles-This team ministers to singles of all ages. This may include young adults who have never been married or single again through divorce or a death.

Visitation-This team ministers through visiting hospitals, shut-ins, nursing homes and prospects.
